TIMBER & MATERIALS

Choosing the right timber is a crucial first step, as it directly affects a window’s durability, insulation, resistance to weather and pests, and overall appearance.

The right timber ensures long-lasting performance and helps minimise maintenance.

OUR HARDWOODS

We typically offer Sapele or Utile - sustainably sourced tropical hardwoods that balance performance and aesthetics.

•  Naturally strong and dense;

highly resistant to wear & weather.

• Often finished with translucent coatings to highlight natural grain.

• Enviromentally responsible    sourcing-FCS and PEFC certified.

Softwoods, but not for external joinery...

Previously common but no longer recommended for our Highland climate.

• Modern softwoods lack the durability of  old-growth timber.

• Often fail within 10 years without meticulous maintenance.

• We do not offer softwood for external joinery due to its high risk of premature failure.

Softwoods are offered for internal joinery.
